Farmington Rd W, Accokeek, MD, USA
In 1999, the Board of committee at that time, monks, and DC, Maryland and Virginia followers, under the leadership of the Phrakru Sujin decided to purchase a new place at 36 Farmington Rd, W. Accokeek, MD 20607 with 28 acres of land, a wide rectangular lawn, and including 1 house, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. The total price was $430,000 with $117,500 down payment. The mortgage was paid off in December 2004.
After moving into the new location, the temple renovated the main floor with 3 more rooms for the resident monks and another office room.
In 2001 -2002, Phramaha Soonthorn Warasapho requested permission to extend the building to serve as a place for merit-making which provided more space for over 100 people and 2 additional bathrooms. The temple also renovated the basement by adding a meeting room with a library, dance and music classroom, and a storage room. The project had a budget of $200,000. To save on construction expenses, Phrakru Sakda and Phramaha Prayut, the leadership of this renovation, installed and built electricity lines, hot-cold water lines, and 14 wooden gazebos with some help from other monks.
In 2003, Phramaha Soonthorn Warasapho became the abbot and in 2004, Mrs. Suwatcharee Laiser became the executive chairman.
In 2020, Wat Tummaprateip started another construction project of the 100 Year “Yor Yor Sor” Pavilion to accommodate the increasing number of followers coming to the temple. Volunteers sacrificed their time to help the temple and joined together to help the Sangha with various tasks. They want to see Wat Tummaprateip be a spiritual refuge for all followers who come here and persuade everyone to practice Dhamma more. We invite and welcome everyone to come and join us at Wat Tummaprateip.
